Milling the pcb board

We are using the offline fab module because in vigyan ashram there is problem with internet more time so we used here offline fab module to run modela machine.

the process starts by designing it using a design software. Here, you first draw the schematic and then create the board layout for the same. After doing this, the design is exported in the form of a .png file from the software having white traces.The file is then opened using fab modules and fed to the Roland Modela MDX 20 machine for milling the PCB.

Creating design file

with the help of electronics design softwre and make that file as .png my png file of fabisp is given below it shows the traces only with white colour

for cut the board we have to make another border png file which can be shown below

Use fab module

Fab modules is the a software interface which is made to talk to all the machines in a Fab Lab. so now in our lab pc fab module is there so first i open the terminal type the below command

then it ask for password then i type our computer passoword.

after this there is one new window in that we set the image type and the machine which we are going to be used.

after click on make rml there is main window open and in this we load the file and giving the offset to the path choose the drill bit no.of opration we done from here.and always after any change click on make.rml and make.path.

then i load my file and click on the make path it is now only single then i change offset to 6 and again i click on make.path.I change the drill bit to the 1/64 first for milling the board.then i click on move button to set the position of board and drill bit.then i click on send it button my bed is ready to mill the board

after this i repeat the same process i load my border of board to the computer then change the drill bit to 1/32for cut the board and other settings set keep as it is because these are default settings.

now my board is ready

conclusion

i have good expiriance while handling the modela machine.i learn the fab module here and also how mill the pcb with this machine.Now i can handel this machine without my instructor.
